I saw this piece of art in the 11th Annual Community Art Exhibit at the DIA today and felt called to share the message it conveys.
Spending the day at the museum with my daughter, and being brought to tears several times by the emotion that I felt coming though the art we saw was a perfectly timed reminder of just how potent and important that having a creative outlet is to healing and just to being HUMAN.
In my own experience, I've often personally had to just plain get over myself when it comes to feeling inadequate at being able to “do art well”. I’ve found that just doing it is a healing experience, regardless of the result.
How have you found art and creativity to be a healing experience?
